Lorenzo Frignani Liutaio

Mandolins

Lorenzo Frignani does not construct mandolins, lutes or similar instruments but deals only in their restoration and repair. For his own research purposes, he is always extremely interested in viewing and documenting any rare examples or any historical material relating to them. Any information regarding instruments of a particular nature is therefore always welcome.

He has restored and catalogued many interesting models - Italian in particular - dating from the 1700s, 1800s and 1900s. Some of these appear in the catalogue "GUITARS AND MANDOLINS: a small collection of Italian instruments of the 1800s and 1900s". This catalogue was written by Frignani in 1998 in collaboration with the Comune of Pieve di Cento (Bologna) and the Luthery Department of Pieve di Cento's School of Artistic Luthery.
