Lorenzo Frignani Liutaio

Luigi Castellani

A Florentine luthier who worked in his native city. He was born in 1809 and died in 1884. His father, Pietro, was also a renowned luthier in Florence where he continued to work until 1820.

As well as being a constructor of guitars, Castellani was also a restorer and a capable double-bass player. He also had the role of Museum Curator.

He used a model with a tight central bend, similar in style to that used by Guadagnini. He also built guitars with additional bass strings.
